Scientific prizes ... The IIC takes care of the diffusion at world level and the management of important scientific prizes, first of all the International Communications Prize Cristoforo Colombo, created by the Municipality of Genoa in 1954 and given each year to a person or institution who has much more contributed to the communications progress, meant as economic and civil development and collaboration among people. The process for the Columbo prizes assignment is in charge of the IIC since 2006. The IIC takes also care of the Colombo Medal. Both prizes count among their winners prestigious persons and institutions for the contribute given to the world, to the progress, to the transport, telecommunications and air spatial communication knowledge in the second half of the Nineteenth Century.
